Being a native of Cannes, I've had the privilege of discovering some of the most well-kept secrets in the South of France. Read on to learn my top ten suggestions for making the most of your next trip.
1. The Lérins Islands
The Lérins Islands are a must-visit if you find yourself in Cannes! A short 15-20 minute boat ride from the Cannes port will take you straight to these stunning islands.
Sainte-Marguerite, the largest of the Lérins Islands, is a true gem with its stunning beaches, hidden coves, and beautiful pine and eucalyptus forests – perfect for a relaxing day in nature. And let's not forget the island's rich past, with archaeological ruins and the notorious Fort Royal, which housed the legendary Man in the Iron Mask during King Louis XIV’s reign.
Be sure to include Saint-Honorat in your itinerary as well! It's home to a fascinating fortified monastery, open to visitors and still inhabited by monks today, carrying on a tradition dating back to the 11th century.
